Halifax Explosion 100th Anniversary in Dartmouth

The Dartmouth Historical Association’s annual memorial service to honour the Dartmouth victims of the Halifax Explosion will take place December 6 at 11:30 am at Mont-Blanc Cannon Park. The Park is located on the corner of Albro Lake Road and Pinecrest Drive. Special speaker at the memorial service will be Rex Baker, son of Frank Baker and donor of his diary, which is currently on display at Evergreen House. The service will last for 20-30 minutes.

Following the memorial service, attendees are invited to come to Evergreen House for a reception. We will be serving war cake and light refreshments. Guests are also invited to visit our exhibit, Explosion! Dartmouth’s Ordeal of the 1917 Disaster. Our doors will also open at 11:30 am to welcome any guests unable to attend the service. The reception will run until 2:00 pm.

As a special one-time offer, we will be selling booklets of Canada Post’s commemorative 100th Anniversary Halifax Explosion stamps and First Day covers during the reception. A representative from Canada Post will be on-site to offer guests the opportunity to purchase these collectors items.

Both events are open to the public. No admission fee but donations are welcome.
