Galentine’s Day

Happy Galentine’s Day! Happy what? Today, February 13, is recognized as Galentine’s Day. It is a precursor to Valentine’s Day as it celebrates female friendship and special friendships you have throughout your life. This is where the day gets its name – GAL-entine’s Day. In case you were curious about its origins, it was coined on the American television show Parks and Recreation. That’s right, it’s a fictional holiday, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be celebrated!

So to celebrate it, why not dig through the Museum’s archival collection and share some images of female friendship throughout the years? While this holiday may be new, these photos show “gal pals” are not!
